    In order to understand how a sale is attributed to an Affiliate you need to first understand the principle of cookies. Websites store objects called cookies, information from that site such as your user preferences, login, shopping cart contents and more. If you have ever asked a website to “remember” your password and username then you have activated a cookie. You are often also cookied simply by visiting a website. Have you ever shopped for a product on Amazon and seen that product advertised to you on multiple sites for days or weeks afterwards? That is an example of you being cookied.   • In Performance marketing, a cookie helps to remember the link or ad the visitor to a website clicks on. Cookies can store the date and time of the click, if you have made a purchased or submitted your information. When a user visits a publisher's website and clicks an advertiser's creative ad, the visitor's browser receives the tracking cookie (in our case Affiliati’s tracking cookie) that identifies the advertiser, the publisher, the specific creative and commission amount. This data is stored within the link information in what are called "parameters" and can include even more anonymous data used for attribution, analysis, and optimization.
